Carolina sent me this image of the gift that Richard Nixon gave Pope Paul VI in 1969. Carolina originally saw it in the Vatican in 2009 and loved that the leader of the free world would give the man who has Michelangelos in his workplace this spectacular piece of kitsch. Carolina is awesome. I wasn't able to leave this card in the Vatican, but I did place it in the Victoria and Albert museum gift shop, which is a repository for kitsch and colonial hubris, both befitting the ghost of mr Nixon.
